Welcome to Pai Thailand! I’m sure you’ve heard many good things about this beautiful place, and now your curious why I think it’s the best place in Thailand! Let’s get to the happy hippie facts!
Badass Backpacker Hostels
How can you go wrong with this hippie happy chill vibe? I mean, when I found Spicy Pai Backpackers it made me feel like I was home. Bamboo huts, bamboo beds, a 20 bed dorm with beds connected together with bamboo, it’s pretty epic! Let’s just say that when love birds find each other, the whole dorm goes a shakin’, if you know what I mean! I couldn’t get over the view with the hammock, how chill is that! Definitely photo worthy that’s for sure! I’ve gotta say, the vibe at the hostels, and anywhere in the city is just so open and relaxed and, pretty much how life should be!
That chill vibe though
The vibe in Pai is unforgettable! Check out the street markets and feast your eyes on all the beautiful clothing! I tried really hard not to buy everything, I just bought half of everything! The street market is right in town! It begins at about 4-5pm and ends around 9:30pm. I highly suggest only eating dinner at the street market, you will always be happy. For breakfast or lunch, I have 2 amazing recommendations for delicious healthy food! Boomalicious Cafe is AMAZING at breakfast, I can’t even explain! Earth Tone is my absolutely favorite though, tons of health food products, super food meals and raw vegan deserts, what more could you ask for! That banana cake below is from Earth Tone and was absolutely delicious! Be sure to check them out!
Let's do some yoga at the White Buddha
The White Buddha (Wat Phra That Mae Yen) is a beautiful Buddha in the middle of the mountain. It’s seen from pretty much anywhere in Pai, and it’s always a beauty to stare at it. If you end up making your way up to the Buddha, which I highly suggest, you’ll have a grand old time! Buddha was clearly getting a face lift when I paid him a visit, nonetheless he looked lovely! All the scaffolding on the back made it possible for us to climb to the top beside his head, it was pretty cool! We didn’t end up falling so that was lovely!
Pay this White Buddha a nice visit and do some yoga with him. I suggest going during the week when there aren’t as many tourists around. Relax, bring your yoga mat a take a couple awesome photos! If you face the opposite side of Buddha, there’s a great view across all of Pai Thailand. It’s stunning and worth watching sunrise or sunset during!
How about a canyon adventure?
Download the APP Maps.me and you’ll be able to find your way to the canyon easily, and without a sim card! The canyon is great, there are loads of pathways, some are dangerous thought, so be careful! Many people gather around for sunset and enjoy the views together. It’s about a 10 minute drive out of town, and well worth it! Get a picture of yourself on the edge like I did!
Check out these sunset photos though! I’m obsessed with waking up early and catching the sunrise, or eating dinner late so I can watch the sunset. There’s something special about all these colors and calmness that make me so happy! Grab your camera and take some shots, it’s so therapeutic.
Don't fall down the landsplit!
The Land Split isn’t a MUST, but it’s still pretty cool! It’s a tiny 5 minute walk around to see a crack in the ground, its neat! The best part is the lovely dog out front of the shop, and the “by donation” food the locals have prepared! They are so lovely and just want to have a chat with everyone! They’ve got fruit, some delicious purple drink and also some weird things. Be sure to give them a good donation because they are lovely!
Refresh yourself at the Pam Bok Waterfall
Drive about 10 minutes past the landsplit and you’ll see the Pam Bok Waterfall! Yes, there are so many waterfalls in Thailand, you might be waterfall-ed out, but I really enjoyed this one! It’s great for swimming, it’s refreshing and it’s always packed! I found this little hole in the rocks where I took a bad ass picture. The Land Split isn’t a must, but this waterfall is! And they’re both in the same area, so may as well check them both out!
Do a little photoshoot, the backdrop is to die for!
Take your scooter, drive around and find some great spots to take some photos, with you in them of course! I’m not talking about the boring photos where your standing in front of the attraction and smiling, those are crap! Let’s take some natural whimsical and inspiring photos! Get out and play around with your camera! Be sure to use Pai Thailand as a great backdrop for your photos!
